I underwent a full knee replacement which turned out to be an extraordinary experience from start to finish. Mr Rajaratnam was the consummate professional and I never felt that I was ever in a position where I did not know exactly what was planned. He surrounds himself with true professionals from his anaesthetist Barry Phillips who was superb to all the staff at the Schoen Clinic. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any of them. Cheyne Voss the physio came highly recommended by Mr Rajaratnam and given he does home visits this was an essential part of my rehabilitation and recovery. No one ever looks forward to any surgery but I cannot wait for fully recovery so that I can get no 2 knee done. Many many thanks indeed

He is clearly very good, he knew exactly what was wrong with it within minutes and proposed a course of action. The surgery was uneventful and seamless, and pain management was excellent. The overall experience was excellent and all members of the team were really helpful and available.

I am an NHS patient and I count myself most fortunate to have come under Sam Rajaratnam's care at the Horder Centre in Crowborough, East Sussex. I have had painful knees for a long time, at least a couple of years, and I went through the various hurdles that NHS patients must undergo before, at last, I was deemed in need of surgery. It was, as I have said, the greatest fortune to have been placed on Sam's list. I had an initial consultation with Sam at the beginning of September 2021 and a total knee replacement at the end of November the same year. Everything about the operation was absolutely top class: Sam wrote to my GP explaining that I wasn't forgotten when the lockdown was in full swing, the preparation for surgery, the ward staff, the anaesthetist, and the post operative care. And then, to my great delight, Sam arranged for me to be admitted in mid-July of this year to have my other knee replaced, again at the Horder Centre. It was a similar tale of superb surgical work, wonderful care pre and post operation and I now have two perfectly working knees. I should point out that there is a fair amount of pain and discomfort for the first few weeks but I see and feel improvements every day. Sam also telephoned six weeks after each operation. He is such a lovely man. I just wish he did feet too as I have very painful arthritis in my left foot. But if you are considering knee surgery, there can be no better, caring or skilful surgeon than Sam Rajaratnam.
